When Kazuma’s previous single ‘White Stallion’ was released on June 21, it broke records in China, becoming the most-downloaded song by a Japanese artist in history there, surpassing 250,000 downloads on its first day of release.

‘White Stallion’ music video:

The new single ‘Drown feat. Hikari Mitsushima’ features guest vocals from actress Hikari Mitsushima. It continues the deep sense of musicality of Kazuma’s solo releases so far, but Mitsushima’s vocals bring a new color to Kazuma’s sound, expanding his musical landscape. The two artists met through a shared friend, and as they talked about music together, they quickly hit it off, leading Kazuma to ask Mitsushima to collaborate.

The song was self-produced by Kazuma, who also co-wrote the music and lyrics.

The title ‘Drown’ refers to the idea of “drowning in love”, and the song is themed around the dramatic passion between two lovers. It expresses the emotions of two people who are fatefully and impulsively attracted to one another. As they drown in their deep feelings, the song offers an artistic expression of love, with unexpected leftfield musical twists. Fans should also look forward to a music video, which will follow soon.

In addition to the new single release, Kazuma has also announced that his first solo EP, ‘CODE LOVE’, will be released on September 13. As a self-produced artist with a domestic and international audience, Mitchell Kazuma is one to watch.

Comment from Kazuma

“This single was originally produced as an interlude for the EP. When we got the chance to introduce this music to Hikari, we also offered her to sing it together. She agreed to join this song so we finished mastering it as a single. Hikari’s voice has added more color and made the song completely new from just one storyline by me to a ‘conversation of two people’. We expressed being drowned in the emotions as a message of this song. Depending on the listener, this may seem like a song that is about the romance of being in love with someone or a song about your own internal feelings that only you know about. It’s best to just listen and understand the way to be drowned by the wave of the emotions in your way, not to be fully explained by someone”. - KAZ
